Computer Courses for Learning to Type Faster

Computer Courses for Learning to Type Faster IT Support Courses for Typing Text Quickly ChaptersHave a Good Posture in Order to Improve Your TypingPosition Your Fingers and Memorise the Locations of the KeysLearn to Type Quickly without Looking at the KeyboardKnowing how to type quickly on a keyboard is a valuable skill in an age where computers are used on a daily basis.  Younger generations born with a mouse in their hands will learn to type quickly before they leave school while the older generations will probably make it up as they go along. These older generations are often thought of as being detached from modern technologies and a large number of the oldest generations lack both the hardware and skills to get themselves connected.Did you know that in order to type quickly, you’ll have to use all ten fingers? However, typing speed doesn’t just boil down to how quickly you can type characters.  Typing skills include being able to effectively using a word processor (like Word or OpenOffice) as well as mastering keyboard shortcuts and making as few errors as possib le.Just like in the golden age of typewriters, typing is an art form. And just like with all arts, learning to type quickly is a skill that requires a lot of effort and perseverance. With that in mind, Superprof is here to bring you some useful tips for those who want to learn how to type faster. However, it's not just about doing typing tests and fast typing through muscle memory, you have to be able to type everything with a high degree of accuracy and without making a mistake! How many of you are still using two fingers to hunt and peck and only managing five or six words per minute (wpm)? To learn to type on a computer keyboard, there’s no big secret: you firstly need to be sitting correctly.Your position at the keyboard is hugely important. (Source: stokpic.com)If you’re not sitting correctly for long periods of time and looking for different letters, characters, and accents, you can do a lot of damage.  A bad posture can cause back pain, muscle fatigue, skeletal muscle probl ems like tendinitis and tenosynovitis or carpal tunnel syndrome. In order to learn to type a text as quickly as possible with both your hands, here’s how you should sit when you type every letter:Sit in a well-lit and well-ventilated areaType on a desk, never on your lap or while lying in bedSit with a straight back with your feet on the floorYour feet need to be lined up with your shoulders and your legs parallelYour wrists need to be at the same height as the keyboard so that you can bend your fingers easilyMake sure you’re breathing well and pushing out your rib cagePush your head and shoulders back so that your back isn’t archedTense your abs when breathing out so that your stomach remains flatMake sure your chair is at the right heightTo type more quickly, you’ll have to get used to your keyboard.  English computers use the popular “qwerty” layout (named after the first 5 characters on the top row).  Since there are no accents in English (except a few loanwords like café, cliché, etc.), there are no accent keys on our keyboards. If you're English, then you're probably using a qwerty keyboard without accents. This means that if you have to type in other languages, you’ll have to get a different keyboard or learn some shortcuts. This is more difficult than having a dedicated key. Of course, if you only type in English, then your keyboard layout will be fine and you can always use the shortcut.Ready to learn to type more quickly? Let’s go!You’ll need to firstly be able to type without looking at your hands.A music teacher will tell beginners the same thing when playing the piano: you need to focus on the sheet music rather than looking at your hands.  Learning how to type is the same; your typing will improve by correcting the mistakes you make on the screen. Before you’re able to do that, you’ll need to get used to the keyboard and where to place your fingers.Find out more about our cyber security tutorials and coding courses.Position Y our Fingers and Memorise the Locations of the KeysAs we said before, English keyboards have the “qwerty” layout.Did you learn that at school? The reason this layout exists is because when typewriters were first being developed, they needed to keep the metal arms from jamming with one another by keeping regularly used letters apart from one another. While this is no longer a problem, the layout stuck and people are very unwilling to try other layouts.Make sure you learn where all the keys are located on your keyboard. (Source: pixabay.com)The letters were therefore placed in this order rather than in alphabetical order.  If you want to learn to type quickly, you’ll need to improve your dexterity and “lock” your hands since your fingers are going to find the keys, your hands shouldn’t move.Your fingers will sit over the home row keys (from the a to ; keys). Here are the rules for where your fingers should be:Left index finger on FLeft middle finger on DLeft ring finger on SL eft pinky on A.Right index on JRight middle finger on KRight ring finger on LRight pinky on ;Both thumbs should be on the Space Bar.As soon as you start, you should already have 8 letters memorised. Each finger has an area where it operates:Left pinky: 1, q, a, z, , ctrl, shift, caps lock, tab, and `Left ring finger: 2, w, s, x, and the Windows buttonLeft middle finger: 3, e, d, cLeft index: 4, r, f, v, 5, t, g, bLeft thumb: Space Bar and AltThe right hand operates as follows:Right pinky: Enter, backspace, =, ], #, -, [, ‘, 0, p, ;, /Right ring finger: 9, o, l, .Right middle finger: 8, i, k, comma.Left index: 7, u, j, m, 6, y, h, nLeft thumb: Space Bar and AltGrStart by writing words without looking at the keyboard and saying the letters aloud as you type them. This will help your memory.Find out more on private tutorials for beginners!Learn to Type Quickly without Looking at the KeyboardTyping without looking and using the keyboard shortcuts can help you save a lot of time.  You†™ll soon be typing faster and faster. If you work with computers all day, you need to be familiar with your keyboard. (Source: pixabay.com)Start by quickly glancing at the letters in a word and then start typing while looking at the screen.  The rest should come naturally if your hands are in the right place.  There’s not much more to it than that when it comes to typing as quickly as possible.Once you’ve memorised where the keyboard’s keys are and feel comfortable typing, you should make sure that you practise frequently. It’s just like learning to play an instrument or speaking another language.Any activity, no matter what it is, can be learnt quicker by using a method known as spaced repetition. You need to practice the difficult parts more often than the easy parts.Once you’re comfortable with your keyboard and can type at a reasonable pace, you should start looking around.  For example, you could close your eyes or look away and find the raised bar on the J and F keys. You can then start copying a text to practise.Typing “blindly” will quickly help you to memorise the position of the keys and speed up the whole process.  As you type more and more, the locations of the keys will become second nature to you. Without even looking at the keyboard, your fingers will naturally gravitate to the right place. This isn’t the time to rest on your laurels. If you speak more than one language, it might be the time to familiarise yourself with other keyboard layouts.  Try different games to type more quickly.Or, you could sign up for programming courses to build dexterity in using numbers and symbols! Why not type up an old letter for practice? (Source: pixabay.com)Would you like to learn touch typing and other methods and become an expert typist? You can look for sites with free typing activities. Here are a few free typing games and online typing activities you can do in order to practise your typing:Listen to the radio and type out everything you hear.Go to the site typingstudy.com: there are touch typing lessons with a digital keyboard, finger positioning, and statistics for keeping track of your progress.Sense-lang.org: this site is dedicated to teaching you how to type fast with games. Keybr: you can use this site to do a typing test and evaluate your speed.Do you feel comfortable typing using both PCs and Macs now? If not, you can also learn to touch type with the help of a typing tutor. Why not test yourself: copy a newspaper article into a word processor and time yourself. How many words per minute did you manage? Keep doing your typing practice and you'll soon learn to type faster and more accurately.

A 10 Step Guide to the High School Sophomores Spring

A 10 Step Guide to the High School Sophomore's Spring Sophomore year may seem like the calm before the storm that is your junior and senior years. College applications and SAT/ACT results may look as though they are firm elements of your future, but that future creeps closer each day. However, it is possible to lessen this stress by preparing as best you can in your sophomore year. Consider completing the following 10 steps this spring in order to experience a smoother semester this fall: 1. Evaluate your first semester What did you do well during the first half of sophomore year? What strategies should you carry into junior year? The ability to critically reflect upon your personal performance will become increasingly important as you complete high school and enter college. Hone this skill now. 2. Review your PSAT performance Typically, students complete the PSAT in October of their sophomore year. When you receive your results, read them carefullydo not place them in a drawer or folder and then forget about them. Your PSAT will assist you in setting a target score for upcoming standardized tests. You may also want to take a look at this information on what toknow about the PSAT. 3. Select an initial ACT/SAT test date The second half of junior year is the ideal moment to sit for the ACT or SAT. This timeframe enables maximum in-school exposure to each exams content. Decide upon a date for your first attempt with the ACT/SAT, and then make this date the end point of your preparation. 4. Develop an ACT/SAT study plan Junior year may seem like it is an eternity away, but it is not! A year (or so) of review equips you appropriately for the ACT or SAT. Ensure your study plan reflects your preparation preferences, your strengths, and your weaknessesthen begin executing your test prep immediately. Here are some great tips to help you identify your study style. 5. Register for a college information session Certain high schools encourage younger students to sign up for and participate in an information session about the college application process. If you have little idea of where to begin or have outstanding questions, utilize the opportunity. The application process may be more complicated than you initially believe! 6. Attend a college fair Both community organizations and high schools host college fairs. These events are excellent chances to gather preliminary information about colleges and universities and to speak with admissions representatives. Compile a list of schools to further investigate, but also recognize that many programs will not be present (list them aside to research on your own). 7. Shadow a professional Choose an occupation that interests you and locate a professional who will allow you to shadow him or her. Doing so enables you to properly evaluate your interest in an academic discipline. You can then plan your high school and university years accordingly, with authentic experience to draw from. 8. Increase extracurricular involvement Select one or more extracurricular activities to reliably participate in, if you have not yet done sochess, choir, club soccer, debate, etc. If you are already active in such areas, position yourself to move into leadership roles in your two remaining years of high school. These are some helpful tips on how to choose your extracurricular activities. 9. Discuss Advanced Placement classes Speak with a guidance counselor or teacher to determine whether you are ready to enroll in AP courses. Though typically the territory of juniors and seniors, AP classes can serve as an early introduction to academics at the college level. You can even earn college credit! 10. Investigate summer opportunities Build your college admissions package by leveraging the summer months before your junior year. Complete an internship or service project, or work within a field that may serve as your eventual college major. As such opportunities are competitive and disappear quickly, you should begin to research and secure your options now.

Getting Better Yoga Alignment

Getting Better Yoga Alignment How Can You Improve Your Yoga Alignment? ChaptersWhat Is Yoga Alignment?Improving Your Alignment: Practising AsanasPractising Yoga with a TeacherPractising Alignment Flow YogaTelling the Difference Between Good Alignment and Bad Alignment“Yoga means addition â€" addition of energy, strength and beauty to body, mind and soul.” - Amit RayWhether you’re doing kundalini, nidra, prenatal, Iyengar, or dynamic yoga, you need to be in good health to do yoga. Of course, there’s also relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness, but you need to be flexible in order to do the asanas (poses) and muscle strength, especially if you’re doing some of the more demanding poses. While the 21st June is the International Day of Yoga, you need to be thinking about yoga every other day of the year, too. Doing yoga is all about developing your mind, body, and spirit at the same time whether you’re attending group yoga classes or individual classes. When you show up to a beginner yoga class, be it hatha yoga, vinyasa yoga, ashtanga yoga, or Iy engar yoga, all types of yoga tend to involve yoga postures, stretches, pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditative practices which are designed to help you relax, gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you, and improve your wellness through healing yogic actions.Of course, if you don't do these yoga practices correctly, you're unlikely to enjoy the benefits of them. When it comes to doing an asana (a posture you adopt during yoga sessions), you need to work on your alignment. Alignment, to put it simply, is how effectively you do yoga poses. So how can you work on your yoga alignment? In this article, we're going to look at exactly what alignment is, how you can improve it, how practising yoga with a teacher can help you with alignment, what alignment flow yoga is, and how you can know if your alignment is good or bad. This all starts with your alignment. Alignment is the ideal way to adopt a yoga pose when doing a series of asanas. This is a simple and mechanical definition that can help you better understand what you’re supposed to be doing.Whenever you're doing yoga, you need to think about your alignment. (Source: Pexels)Asanas (the poses used in yoga) are the tools that allow us to achieve fulfilment and mindfulness and alignment are the techniques that help us use the se tools as effectively as possible. Of course, you won’t find rules in yoga but rather guidelines. Alignment is said to help energy circulate throughout your body more effectively. If you practise yoga regularly, you’re going to have to often use each part of your body, mind, and spirit. Proper alignment can help you get the most out of every single activity that you do. This even includes improving your self-awareness. Adopting certain poses comes with its own benefits as long as you do it right.Improving Your Alignment: Practising AsanasJust like any other discipline, yoga is made up of all the techniques you need to master, the conventions that define it, and combining the two effectively. By doing this, you’ll be able to adopt the poses better and make each of them more effective and beneficial for both your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. However, achieving perfect alignment when adopting asanas takes a lot of work and patience. After just a few lessons, you'll have a deeper understanding of alignment. (Source: 532Yoga)This is why, just like in any other sporting discipline, you need to train again and again and again. By working on sequences of asanas, both your alignment and technique will improve. Additionally, you’ll see yourself getting better at breathing, letting go, and exercising. You can only improve your alignment by working on it in every single pose you do. Whether you’re doing yoga at home, group classes, online yoga lessons, or beginners’ yoga lessons, correct alignment can improve your mind, body, and spirit. Your spine will definitely thank you.Check out  yoga near me  now. An instructor, whether you’re a yoga beginner or not, will always be useful for giving you advice on how to improve your alignment during asanas. Your yoga instructor will have been through it all and they’ll know whether your back isn’t straight enough, etc.Your yoga tutor is both a teacher and a guide. (Source: garyskirrow)With another set of eyes checking what you do, they’ll be able to correct you when you go wrong. Don’t forget two important little things. The first is that yoga isn’t just about alignment and that not having perfect alignment won’t be the end of your yoga career. The second thing is that alignment, while a physical skill, isn’t the same as you r typical types of working out. It’s an integral part of yoga which brings balance to each session and inner peace. We need to be able to recentre and ensure that our alignment aids our movement.Practising Alignment Flow YogaWhile the theory is quite difficult to put into practice, for those struggling with yoga, there’s also alignment flow yoga. Alignment flow yoga is a style of yoga that focuses on alignment. This is the best type of yoga for working on your alignment, of course.Strength, endurance, flexibility, and breathing will all be worked on. Thus, with breathing exercises and a spiritual approach, you can practise different yoga poses without needing blocks, belts, etc. The poses are all designed to make your body more aligned and help you enjoy the health benefits of yoga. This can all be done with the help of a yoga instructor or tutor, who won’t hesitate to correct you when you’re doing a pose wrong. It’s not about losing weight, battling stress, or meditating ( although alignment flow yoga can still help), but rather learning how to do yoga poses in order to get healthier and manage pain.Don't forget that the yoga practice also involves controlling your breath as well as gentle stretching and doing different poses. Ask your yoga teachers about how you incorporate breathing more effectively into your yoga or check out our article on the matter.Telling the Difference Between Good Alignment and Bad AlignmentFinally, being able to tell whether your alignment is good is key to telling whether or not you’re good at yoga. You’re going to use this to inform everything you do in yoga. You need to ensure that you’re doing each pose correct and whether or not you can improve your alignment.Of all the different yoga disciplines, alignment yoga is arguably the most useful for improving your alignment. (Source: Free-Photos)Alignment manifests itself in the yogi themselves. Can you see the difference? Does it hurt to doing this position? Is practisi ng yoga making less stressed and more relaxed? All these questions will tell you how effective your yoga is.Proper alignment will give you the answers to these questions and you need to pay attention to everything you’re finding out. Let’s not forget that yoga is a reflective practice and alignment is a huge part of it.  When your body, mind, and spirit are working together, you can bet that your alignment is perfect. When you practice yoga, your body and mind will get used to working together a relieve anxiety, tension, and reduce stress. Thus, in just a few sessions, you’ll probably greatly improve your alignment. By regularly doing different poses and listening to your body, you’ll achieve perfect alignment which will help you better understand your mind, body, and spirit. So are you ready for the challenge? If you're interested in doing yoga and improving your alignment, you should probably start looking for a yoga instructor to help you. On Superprof, you can search for bot h online yoga teachers who teach via webcam or local instructors who teach yoga near where you live. While one-on-one yoga sessions are more effective than online tutorials, the latter tend to be cheaper as the instructors have fewer expenses. However, it's much harder for an online yoga instructor to correct your alignment as they won't be able to directly influence how you do each asana. If you want to save money and still get face-to-face yoga sessions, consider getting a few friends together to work with a private yoga instructor. The instructor can offer each student a discount which means every student will save money and the tutor will get more per hour than they would with a single student. Finally, a lot of the instructors on Superprof offer the first hour for free so make sure you try a few different instructors before deciding upon which one you want to work with on improving your alignment.

Muscle Contraction Online Biology Tutors Tutorpace

Muscle Contraction Online Biology Tutors Tutorpace Muscles are made up of contractile fibers which are formed of myofibrils. Muscles exhibit the property of excitability, contractibility, extensibility and elasticity. Muscles are responsible for movements of limbs and internal organs and thus coordinate locomotion in humans. This type of muscular movement is based on the contractile capacity of the muscle fibers. During muscle contraction, the actin filaments on either of the myosin filaments slide over and move towards the Centre. The actin filaments move deeper into the A-band. The Z-lines limiting the sarcomere are pulled closer together and the length of I-band decreases and ultimately disappears. The myosin cross bridge has an acting binding site and as ATPase binding site. The cross bridges on the myosin filament act as hooks and pull the actin filament further deeper into the A-band.Actuall, the I-bands reduce in length and A-band remains unchanged. Excitation of a muscle fiber: Muscle contraction is initiated by a signal from central nervous system through motor neuron. A motor neuron along with the muscle fibers connected to it constitutes a motor unit. The junction between motor neuron and the sarcolemma of the muscle fiber is called the neuromuscular junction. A nerve signal arrives at the neuromuscular junction. This impulse spreads rapidly due to depolarization of the surface of the sarcomere. Soon a neurotransmitter is released at the neuromuscular junction and it enters into the sarcomere through its membrane channel. The sarcolemma suddenly becomes more permeable to Na+.it generates an action potential in the muscle fibre. The action potential travels all along the length of the musclefibre. As a result Ca++ stored in the sarcoplasmic reticulum are released. This Ca++ binds with troponin of the actin filaments. As a result conformational change occurs in the troponin molecule and the active sites of the F-actin molecules become exposed. These active sites are specific to the myosin head. The myosin head and active sites join to form a cross bridge which pulls the actin filaments towards the center of the sarcomere.

However, with a resurgence in its popularity over the last century or so, you reading this won’t be the only person interested in learning the instrument.Whilst the classical guitar is certainly more popular these days â€" another stringed instrument, on which much of the lute repertoire is now played â€" the lute is, really, an altogether different beast. With its distinctive shape and sound, and a history that stretches back through centuries and centuries, if not millennia, it will never be such a mass-produced instrument as the guitar is now. This should give you a sense of the different varieties that this instrument has â€" whilst this fact is the result of the non-standardised nature of the instrument. Things such as musical instruments weren’t standardised back in the day when the lutes were still important instruments.A lute is usually described as having either a pear-shaped or tear-drop shaped body â€" both being, seemingly, the same thing â€" whilst the fingerboard can either be fretted or non-fretted.When you are playing the lute, you may well be playing only one of a range of different instruments â€" as there remains no standardised ‘lute’ per se that is made by a luthier. Regardless, though, the technique s you will learn for one can be fairly unproblematically transferred to the next. A seven-course lute by Descant (image from Lark in the Morning)A Bit of History of the Lute. These days, the lute is a bit of an obscure instrument, often seen as the guitar’s ancestor. Its history potentially goes back even as far as the fourth century BC. Beginning perhaps in Egypt and Babylonia, the lute spread across Mesopotamia, when it could be found from Greece to India and even China. During this period, it remains of the same family as the Arab oud. This instrument remains important throughout history, up until the sixteenth century when we finally find records of its repertoire in Europe â€" with composers like John Dowland writing lute music under Elizabeth I.At this point, its wooden pear-shaped body was combined with gut strings and often gut frets too, whilst the strings were either played with a quill or in fingerstyle.Yet, the Baroque was the golden age of the lute, when it varied dramatically in size and structure. There are reports that some lutes had over thirty str ings â€" which are often played in pairs, or courses â€" which meant that certain variations had to be made to the structure of the instrument. However, after the end of the eighteenth century â€" when lutenists essentially just played the basso continuo or continuous bass â€" the instrument fell out of popularity, being replaced usually by keyboards.Learn about playing the ukulele!Different Types of Lute.Since the mid-twentieth century, the lute has been played a bit more, usually by guitarists and people who are interested in early music and baroque music.Yet, there are a whole heap of different types of lutes from history that are worth being aware of. Let’s take a look at some of these now.The vihuela once was a popular type of lute from fifteenth-century Spain. Fretted, and shaped a bit like a guitar, the vihuela actually become the modern-day viola â€" as people began to use it with a bow.The theorbo is a large instrument of the lute family which were developed during the lat e sixteenth century. They have a much larger neck than most lutes and have as many as fourteen courses of strings.A cittern is not quite a lute as it doesn’t have the rounded back. Rather, it is flat and it has wire strings.Aside from these three, there were, as we have said, very many different types of lute throughout history â€" with different ranges and tonalities, stretching from soprano to bass.Famous Lute Performances.Whilst much of the lute repertoire was written back in the sixteenth and seventeenth century â€" with composers such as Dowland, Anthony Holborne, and Denis Gaultier â€" there have been many musicians in recent years who have begun to play their repertoire once again. Many of these have been classical guitarists, who have transposed the original lute music onto the modern instrument, whilst others have been specialist lutenists.Let’s take a look at some of them here. Julian Bream - Britain's greatest lutenist (Image from Andrea Fortuna)Julian Bream.Julian Bream is the UK’s greatest classical guitarist and lutenist. And whilst he had a huge influence in bringing the classical guitar to respectability in the UK, the work he has done with the lute was just as impressive. In forming the Julian Bream Consort, he brought increased interest to Renaissance music and Elizabethan music â€" but also brought to public attention significant parts of the lute repertoire that had previously gone forgotten. To British eyes, he is one of the most important lutenists of modern times.Joachim Held.Music professor and lutenist Joachim Held has won awards for his lute performances that have never previously been won by another lute player. In this way, he is bringing even further attention to this ancient instrument.Held continues today to tour the world with his instrument.By the way, learn how to play the banjo! How to Play the Lute: Some Basic Lute Techniques. So, ho w exactly do you play the lute? If you are already fairly competent with playing the classical guitar, you will have a bit of a head start. But let’s take it slowly in two parts firstly. Here, we are going to talk about tuning lutes, and then about the basic right hand techniques for plucking. How Do You Tune a Lute?Tuning a lute all depends on how many strings your instrument has, what period it is from, and, essentially, your personal preference. Like any strung instrument, tunings can be changed. However, there is something of a tuning standard today â€" although no such thing existed before the twentieth century.Going from the lowest string in pitch, the standard tuning would give you something like G-C-F-A-D-G, with each note doubled with the two strings of each course.Basic Right-Hand Techniques.Contemporary lutenists these days usually use a similar technique to that of the classical guitar. Here, the right arm reaches over the instrument’s top corner so that the hand is arr anged with an arch between the index finger and thumb.Positioned as if your hand can enter into the sound hole of the instrument, this gives you the maximum agility and comfort â€" and the use of all of your fingers. However, if you have ever seen an old painting of a lutenist, you will notice that the technique is slightly different. The arm is positioned so that the fingers are parallel to the direction of the strings, meaning that you would pluck primarily with the index finger and thumb in a pinching motion. This latter technique has generally been superseded by the former these days. There are lots of other stringed instruments you can learn too!Where to Find Lute Lessons. Now all you need is a tutor to guide you in your process of learning the lute.A tutor is the best way to learn a musical instrument, offering regular support, professional experience and knowledge, and friendly advice and inspiration. And whilst the lute is a bit of a niche instrument, there are still plenty of op portunities for you to receive tuition in the instrument. Let’s see where. Learn the lute!Check Out Superprof’s Lute Tutors.Superprof is a platform that connects budding students with tutors across the world.
